"...Haniwa (埴輪) are terracotta clay figures that were made for ritual use and buried with the dead as funerary objects during the Kofun period (3rd to 6th centuries AD) of the history of Japan. ... Their name means “circle of clay” referring to how they were arranged in a circle above the tomb."

Haniwa is a song about the claustrophobic anxiety one can feel in a crowded world where our perspectives are warped by ideas of legacy and outliving our bodies. Enjoy this record with a cup of tea and an empty room and let it take you there.
